ARTIST STATEMENT

Each painting acts as both a map and a meditation.

A visual record of an inner landscape, drawn from my experience, inquiry, and the unseen vibrations that connect us all.

Working in large scale abstraction, I begin with constraints- limited palettes, specific materials – then allow spontaneity, intuition, and chance to guide the process. Trust is key. The resulting works are both containers and portals; structured as well expansive: rooted as well transcendent.

Poetry and language quietly inform my practice. The rhythm of words shapes silence and creates tension between presence and the absence of expectation.

Presently my work is focused on visually creating air, atmosphere and my own modern mythology inspired by Greeks and Gilgamesh.

Life Map series created over the last three years, reflects nine key periods of my life with two imagined points in the future. Inspired in part by Hilma af Klint’s Great Ten paintings. These works are personal paintings lending themselves to a universal field.

There are invitations of all of my works for the viewer to self journey.
